After Atkin's Continued.

I am so happy to disprove the fact that you gain what you lost and then some, as I have weighed myself this morning and I am now 10 stone and half a pound so I am still losing weight, albeit a very little amount but this is great.  I may not have enjoyed atkins but it has done the trick of not only losing weight, keeping it off but also making me appreciate a "normal" diet.

BREAKFAST = Got up late today and had a very unhealthy Burger King for breakfast!  I had a chicken tendercrisp with large fries and a large vanilla milkshake. Stephen had a double whopper with large fries and large vanilla milkshake.


DINNER = Large bowl of pasta with smoked bacon, onoins, garlic, basil, butter and double cream.

DAY ONE,  ME             = 10 STONE 6 POUNDS (146 POUNDS)
                     STEPHEN = 15 STONE 13 POUNDS (223 POUNDS)

DAY TWO,  ME             = 10 STONE 3 POUNDS (143 POUNDS)
                     STEPHEN = 15 STONE 11 POUNDS (221 POUNDS)

DAY THREE,  ME          = 10 STONE 2 + 3 QUARTER POUNDS (JUST UNDER 143 POUNDS)

After Atkin's.

I stepped onto the scales with great apprehension this morning as I have heard from many people that once you stop atkins or any other low carb diet you put all the weight back on again automatically and often end up even heavier than before.  I am very happy to say that this had not happened to me, well so far anyway! Perhaps these people just over eat after being on atkins, so obviously they would have out on weight, I will see how the weekend goes as I always eat pretty much what I want at the weekends.

So far though, so good as I am still 10 stone 1 pound and I am feeling great. I don't want to put people off of this diet as it does work and is good if you really need to lose a lot of weight, but I really feel much healthier since eating my usual food again.

SECOND DAY AFTER ATKIN'S:

BREAKFAST = 1 honey, oat, nut and chocolate cereal bar, 2 slices white toast both with low fat olive spread but 1 also with strawberry jam, cup of tea made with semi skimmed milk and 1 teaspoon of  sugar.

LUNCH = 2 slices of white toast with 2 rashers of smoked bacon, cherry tomatoes. lettuce and full fat mayonnaise.

SNACK = Large slice of a massive homemade meringue, with whipped double cream and raspberry sauce made from fresh raspberries heated up in a pot with some brown sugar and caster sugar. 

DINNER = Bowl of homemade leek and potato soup with 2 slices of bread. 

DESSERT = Some more meringue, with whipped double cream and raspberry sauce.

DAY ONE,  ME             = 10 STONE 6 POUNDS (146 POUNDS)

Atkin's is over.

I did not get time to update this yesterday as my son had a tummy bug and I have been with him and cleaning up sick, not nice and enough of the sick talk on a food blog!

Anyway yesterday is what would have been day 5 of the atkin's diet but if you had seen day fours blog you will have noticed that I couldn't even get through the day and gave up at dinner time!

Atkin's conclusion;
                                I found this to be the most restricting diet I have ever tried and I thought it was going to be great, eat as much meat as you want, never feel hungry, sounded great but in reality it was very difficult. I had not realized before how much I need the vegetables, rice and pasta that goes along with meat and poultry.  Without it everything seemed bland and made me feel horrible, it is hard to explain but I felt like my insides were heavy and weighed down, I had a terrible headache all the time (although I must note that I do suffer from headaches quite often anyway) drinking so much water made me have to go to the bathroom constantly, even through the night so I was exhausted.

Well, "did it work" I hear you ask, well yes, very well actually. In the short space of time that I had done it for, three and a half days I lost an amazing 5 pounds, now you can't argue with that!

So if you are still interested, here is my food plan from yesterday and my daily weigh ins.

6AM (I was really hungry when I got up to feed my daughter!) = 2 crackers with low fat soft cheese.


BREAKFAST =  5 crackers with mashed banana on them, 1 slice of white toast with low fat olive oil spread and a cup of tea made with a splash of semi skimmed milk and 1 teaspoon of sugar.


LUNCH = 2 slices of white toast with low fat olive spread on and 2 poached eggs, a mini sized Twix bar (biscuit base with toffee on top and covered in a thin layer of milk chocolate) and a cup of coffee with semi skimmed milk and 2 teaspoons of brown sugar.


DINNER = 2 slices of crustless cheese and tomato pizza and a sandwich made with 2 slices white bread, grated cheddar cheese, a spreading of full fat mayonnaise and some lettuce.

DESSERT = A small bowl of homemade ice cream.


EVENING TREAT = 2 large glasses of white wine!

Atkin's Day Four, Yuck!

Well it is day four of Atkin's and I am sorry to say that after today this is it for me, I feel tired and crave something sweet and I also really want some toast! I know it is so early to give in, perhaps if I had more weight to lose then it would be a different story but for me this is just not worth it, I feel miserable.

The very good news is that I have lost an amazing 5 pounds since Monday and this is only Thursday.  I know that this is probably only water weight and I will put it back on as soon as I eat normally but that is a risk I am going to have to take.  I will still write my blog everyday though and I will still eat light tomorrow but pig out at the weekend as usual and see what weight I get back up to on Monday.

For now though here is todays food intake,

BREAKFAST = three gluten free 95% pork sausages, two fried eggs and five rashers of smoked bacon all fried in sunflower oil. One mug of decaf coffee with 1 sweetener and a splash of double cream. One multi vitamin.

 LUNCH = Meatballs made with half a cup of diced onion and 5 rashers of smoked bacon, fried then 1 cup of sliced red and green peppers added and a creamy peppercorn sauce made with, (not surprisingly!)  cream with crushed peppercorns.

DINNER = 2 chicken breasts cooked in a wok with 1 white onion, half a green pepper, half a small tin of sweetcorn and a pack of egg fried rice.


DESSERT = Home made vanilla ice cream with chocolate covered toffee drops in it!

Ok, so as you can see from my dinner and dessert I could not even make it to the end of the day,  I felt bloated and ill on this diet and although I have heard this goes away soon, I just could not deal with it.  As previously mentioned I think that if I had more weight to lose I would have pushed through it but for me it was just nor worth feeling like that, I would rather gain weight and be happy!

Sick Of Meat!

I never thought I would say this but already I am sick of meat and chicken. I had a dream right before I woke up that I was making a chocolate cake, it was warm with soft sponge and a gooey chocolaty center and I ate it with ice cream and whipped cream. You would think that I had not eaten chocolate for months not a couple of days! I was doing so well without it until that bloody dream. Another thing, I have a splitting headache and so does my husband, apparently this is a sign that we are going into ketosis which is when you're body starts using fat for energy.

Anyway, after that rant here is the daily weigh ins don't get too excited as I have only lost a quarter of a pound, well at least I have not gained any, Stephen has lost one pound.

 Oh one thing that I forgot to mention is that I tried some new sausages this morning from Asda, they are from the best range and are gluten free 95% pork and they are AMAZING.

LUNCH  =  1 AND A HALF CHICKEN BREASTS BASHED AND PUT ONTO A BAKING TRAY WITH BASIL, ONE CUP CHERRY TOMATOES QUARTERED, 80g MOZZARELLA CHEESE,HALF CUP OF RED PEPPER SLICED, KNOB OF BUTTER ON EACH BREAST, SALT, PEPPER, POWDERED GARLIC AND PAPRIKA WITH HALF CUP BROCCOLI TO SERVE.

DINNER = A PACK OF COOKED CHICKEN SERVED WITH VERY LIGHT GRAVY AND HALF A CUP OF CAULIFLOWER. 

Lunch was totally amazing, so tasty and very filling infact I didn't even have my dinner until 8pm and I wasn't even that hungry then.  Dinner unfortunately was horrible, I should have just spent the extra money and bought a full chicken to roast, the packet of cooked, sliced chicken breast was vile!

Atkins Day Two.

Can't believe it, weighed ourselves this morning and my husband and I have both lost, I have lose three pounds and Stephen two pounds!!!  I am very happy about this although I must say this is not the best diet for me, although I am not hungry I must admit I am missing toast and it has only been one and a half days. Surprisingly though I am not missing chocolate and this is the thing that I thought I would miss the most, I do have a chocolate and fresh cream roulade lined up for the weekend though!!!

The worst part of this diet is the amount of water you have to drink, I am drinking one and a half liters a day and I can not stop peeing! Although this sounds funny it is really annoying as I have to stay in the house after I have drunk a lot of the water as I need to be near a toilet at all times.

Today we had our normal breakfast of two wheat and gluten free pork sausages, two fried eggs and four rashers of smoked bacon all fried in sunflower oil. One mug of decaf coffee with 1 sweetener and a splash of double cream. One multi vitamin.

LUNCH = 2 large homemade burgers stuffed with mozzarella served with half a cup of baby plum tomatoes, more mozzarella, fresh basil and some lettuce.




DINNER = 2 chicken breasts sliced and mixed with mayonnaise, garlic, pepper, half a cup of green pepper and one third of a cup of onion served with 1 cup of lettuce.

Atkins Day One.

Finally got to the supermarket today to buy what I will need for this diet.  I was so hungry and by the time I got the shopping in and got home to start cooking breakfast it was half 11!  Yes I must say this diet is seeming quite inconvenient already but perhaps that is just down to lack of organisation from me. Anyway, here are todays stats for myself and Stephen my husband.

ME             = 10 STONE 6 POUNDS (146 POUNDS)
STEPHEN = 15 STONE 13 POUNDS (223 POUNDS)

TODAYS FOOD;

BREAKFAST, (This will be the same each day unless otherwise stated) = 4 rashers of smoked bacon, 3 gluten and wheat free pork sausages and 2 eggs all fried in a small amount of sunflower oil. One multi vitamin.


LUNCH = 1 tin of tuna with mayonnaise mixed in and two thirds of a cup green pepper and red onion finely chopped with one cup lettuce and four slices of cucumber to serve.


DINNER = 1 chicken breast cooked in the wok with half a cup of largely chopped onion then a few tablespoons of double cream and some curry spices added at the end served with a cup of broccoli.

So how did it go? Well I'm not hungry but with atkin's you have to drink a lot of water, so I think I am not craving anything due to this.  It was a mad rush today so perhaps I will feel hungrier tomorrow when I am just spending most of the day in the house. I am quite sure that I have put weight on but I will see in the morning when I weigh myself.
